What is Dysport used for?

Dysport is a prescription injection administered by a licensed healthcare professional to treat moderate to severe frown lines (those wrinkles between the eyebrows).

Medically, it’s a botulinum neurotoxin (abobotulinumtoxinA), an acetylcholine release inhibitor and a neuromuscular blocking agent. It temporarily prevents specific muscle movements that cause frown lines.

What are Dysport injections?

Administered by a licensed healthcare professional, Dysport is supplied as a single-use, sterile 300-unit vial. The dose of Dysport^® for the treatment of glabellar lines (frown lines between your eyebrows) is a total of 50 units injected equally among the specific muscles. The dose of Dysport is not the same as the dose of any other botulinum toxin product and cannot be compared to the dosage of any other botulinum toxin product that you may have previously used.

How long does it take to administer?

Although office visits can vary, the procedure generally takes 10 to 20 minutes.

How long does it take Dysport^® to work?

Though results vary, there is typically a noticeable improvement in moderate to severe frown lines between the brows within 2-3 days.1-3*

How long does Dysport last?

One treatment of Dysport^® can last for up to 4 months,^† so the effect of repeat treatment with Dysport^® may be comparable to the first use. Learn more.

^†GL-1 and GL-3 evaluated subjects for at least 150 days following treatment. Based on investigator assessment, response was maintained for up to 4 months in both GL-1 (Dysport 24/105 [23%], Placebo 2/53 [4%]) and GL-3 (Dysport 58/200 [29%], Placebo 1/100 [1%]).^2-4

Is Dysport^® different from BOTOX^® Cosmetic?

Dysport^® and Botox are both made from botulinum toxin type A. All botulinum toxins have the same mechanism of action: blocking the release of acetylcholine (ACh) and preventing the muscles from contracting to maintain the aesthetic effect. However, the dose of Dysport^® is not the same as the dose of any other botulinum toxin product and cannot be compared to the dosage of any other botulinum toxin product that you may have previously used. What are the side effects of Dysport?

The most common side effects are nose and throat irritation, headache, injection site pain, injection site skin reaction, upper respiratory tract infection, eyelid swelling, eyelid drooping, sinus inflammation, and nausea. For a full list of potential side effects, click here.

What’s the cost of Dysport?

The cost of Dysport is determined by your healthcare professional and will vary based on the amount of product used and frequency of injections. Dysport is priced similarly to other botulinum toxin products that are commercially available.

Can I buy Dysport online?

You can only get Dysport from a doctor’s prescription. Dysport must be administered by a primary physician, dermatologist, cosmetic aesthetician, plastic surgeon or other healthcare professional licensed to administer Dysport. Find a doctor near you.

How can I make sure my Dysport is authentic?

There’s only one FDA-approved Dysport. Be sure to ask your specialist to see the packaging of your product to make sure it’s authentic.

Look for the full product name on the front and sides of the packaging.
Make sure the seal on the product is intact.
